The Austin Reggae Festival boasts the largest annual third world market in Central Texas. Featured items in this vending area include clothing, jewelery, original artwork, and other handmade gifts from around the world -- and from right here in the Lone Star State. Craftsman of all types display their wares to patrons who stroll the tree-lined market area in search of the perfect festival souvenir. Due to the popularity of this space, a brand new vending section will be opening at the 2007 Austin Reggae Festival. To claim a centralized spot in this newly-launched West End Market or to inquire about the various other opportunities to get your product to event attendees, please contact Pat (pwccostigan at prodigy.net).

23,000 Pounds of Food for CAFB!

Congratulations to everyone who attended the 2006 Austin Reggae Festival. With your generous help and support, we raised 23,638 pounds of food for the Capital Area Food Bank. This figure amounts to more than 140,000 meals for hungry families in Central Texas. Over its 13 year history, the Austin Reggae Festival has raised more than 300,000 pounds of food for this very worthy charity. What a great testimony to the healing power of positive music!

Warm Weather This Weekend!

The 2006 Austin Reggae Festival begins at noon on Saturday, April 15. Warm temperatures are forecast for Austin this weekend (with highs in the upper 80s). Be sure to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of fluids. Yes, each patron is allowed to bring in one container of sealed water for personal usage. Beverages will also be available from the various vendors (and if you forget cash, there will be an ATM). Explore this website for more info on bands, parking and what to bring to the event.

Doors open at noon and the event ends at 10:00 pm.

What to Bring, What Not to Bring

These items are allowed at the Austin Reggae Festival: blankets, lawn chairs, tents, one sealed container of water for personal usage, ice chests filled with ice only (but not drinks), leashed and well-behaved dogs.

In addition to the $7.00 entry fee and two cans of food for the Capital Area Food Bank, we also encourage you to bring sunscreen (to protect against the warm weather) and extra cash (to purchase food, drink, plus arts and crafts from the scores of vendors). If you forget these items, there will be an ATM on site -- and sunscreen is sold at the soda booth on the east side of the venue.

These items are definitely NOT allowed at the Austin Reggae Festival: food for personal consumption, drinks, pit bulls and other aggressive dogs, unfriendly attitudes.

2006 Austin Reggae Festival Lineup

For Saturday, April 15, the lineup is Full Service (noon to 12:45), Gustavo Rodriguez Band (12:55-1:35), In Demand (1:45-2:45), Zerby (2:55-3:55), Grimy Styles (4:05-5:05), The Stingers (5:15-6:15), Bobo Marshall (6:25-7:25), Dr. King Cobra (7:35-8:35), and Pete Francis (8:45-10:00).

For Sunday, April 16, the lineup is Raspas (noon to 12:45), Gustavo Rodriguez Band (12:55-1:35), Aimann Raad & Lion Head (1:45-2:45), Five Ton Chicken (2:55-3:55), Cartlon Pride & Zion (4:05-5:15), Neutral Sisters (5:25-6:40), Mau Mau Chaplains (6:50-8:15), and D.R.U.M. (8:25-10:00).

Also, the Catch A Fire Soundsystem will perform during set changes.

Where to Park for the Event?

There are several parking options for the 2006 Austin Reggae Festival. We provide a free shuttle bus to Auditorium Shores from 3rd and San Antonio (no charge to ride the shuttle; however, parking at that location may require a fee particularly in the later afternoon / evening). Or, park across the street from Auditorium Shores at the Palmer Events Center for just $7.00.

Performers at the 2006 Austin Reggae Festival include Bobo Marshall, Carlton Pride and Zion, D.R.U.M., Dr. King Cobra and the Bush Doctors, Five Ton Chicken, Grimy Styles, Lion Head, Mau Mau Chaplains, and the Neutral Sisters. $7.00 Per Day Entry Fee: Such a Deal

Tickets for the Austin Reggae Festival are priced for $7.00 per day -- or $10 for the full weekend pass. In addition to these fees, patrons are asked to bring at least two non-perishable food items. Donated food, as well as a portion of the ticket fee, benefits the Capital Area Food Bank. No advance sales -- tickets for the Austin Reggae Festival only available at the door. Children 12 and under are FREE if accompanied by a parent.

Two Days of Music, People and Fun!

Founded in the spring of 1993, the Austin Reggae Festival is the largest third-world music event in Central Texas. Doors open at noon each day and the show continues untll 10:00 pm. Past performers have included Inner Visions, Jethro Jeremiah, Killer Bees, King Chango, The Majestics, Root 1, Tribal Nation, and Watusi. The 2006 linuep will be announed in early March.

Do you specialize in unique arts and crafts, or quality food items? Would you like to have an opportunity to sell your product to the 10,000+ music fans who attend the two-day Austin Marley Festival? UPDATE: As of March 27, all spaces for food vendors have been sold out. There are, however, a few remaining spaces for vendors specializing in arts and crafts.

Benefitting the Capital Area Food Bank

The Austin Reggae Festival serves as one of the year's biggest food procurement events for the Capital Area Food Bank. Since 1993, more than 200,000 pounds of food has been generated for this worthy charity as a result of local reggae fans attending this special event. College-aged and older individuals and organizations are needed to receive and box food donations, as well as load the collection onto the truck.
